Re: Megiddo

Ayn remains silent as she sits next to Lara. She had no idea what she could do to comfort her except let her cry. She rubs her own eyes, trying to hide the fact that she was starting to cry as well.

Re: Megiddo

"Yes I would, but no need to scare the poor barkeep half to death." The old knight manages to smile, though he's curious as to what the earlier commotion was.
__
Lara reaches for a blanket on her bed and pulls it off, wrapping herself in it while sobbing. "I don't know what to do...."

Re: Megiddo

He grins and tosses him the bottle and opens one himself. "So what got you dragged into this? Don't tell me you are obligated to save the planet like I am. Or do you have some history with Mr. Dark 'n' Angsty?"

Ayn 06-06-2004 09:47 PM

Re: Megiddo

Ayn rests her hands on her knees, staring forward. Her eyes are red, and it's obvious she's trying desperately to hide her emotions. "Have to keep fighting.. He.. wouldn't have wanted us to give up so easily." She forces a slight smile.

Gale 06-06-2004 09:58 PM

Re: Megiddo

"Eh, I'm just doing what I believe I should, fighting for those who cannot. I had not met the warlock till this incident."
__
Lara begins to slump to the floor, eventually leaning against Ayn. "When mom and dad died...I still had Jekin...He always knew what to do..he got us out of Obersin. I've never been alone before..." Her crying had been reduced to whimpers as she slowly calmed down.

Spider~One 06-06-2004 10:04 PM

Re: Megiddo

"So did you get an envitation to our Abbis friends party or what?" He takes a drink and loks up to the roof and ponders what could be happening. He mutters: "probably nothing..."

Ayn 06-06-2004 10:14 PM

Re: Megiddo

Ayn glances down at Lara. "You're not alone.. Jekin will always be there for you, just not in physical form." She flinched. That was horribly cheesy and clichéd, but she wasn't sure what else she could say. "Gale killed my mother over ten years ago.. and even though she left when I was young.. I can still feel her there. Kind of like a source of light and warmth when it's dark and cold, and things seem hopeless... You know?"

Gale 06-06-2004 10:29 PM

Re: Megiddo

Lara nods. "I guess... Well things are looking pretty hopeless now... I suppose that tomorrow, either way, this will all be over."

Ayn 06-06-2004 10:47 PM

Re: Megiddo

Ayn nods, her mind drifting elsewhere. There was a lot riding on her shoulders- whatever it was Gale was planning, once he got it done he would most likely try to kill her. She'd be able to hold him off for a bit, but she couldn't fight forever, and she wasn't sure how the others would fare with their injuries. The last few times she and Gale had fought he had always lasted longer, although it wasn't by much.

She sighs. This could very well be hers and everybody else's last night on earth. She didn't like to think it but this realization was unavoidable. She'd do whatever she could in her power, and if not... well, nobody could afford for her to lose.

Gale 06-06-2004 11:02 PM

Re: Megiddo

Lara finally manages to stop crying and wipes her eyes with her arm. "I..I think I'll be ok.."

Ayn 06-06-2004 11:16 PM

Re: Megiddo

Ayn smiles reassuringly at Lara. "Good.. Promise me if you ever feel that way again you'll talk to someone all right? Like I said before, we can't afford to lose you." She stands and stretches. "Lemme know if you need anything." She picks up the sealed gun and bullets, then walks out, closing the door quietly behind her.

Gale 06-07-2004 12:57 PM

Re: Megiddo

Lara nods. "Aight..." When Ayn leaves she crawls into bed, feeling somewhat better after Ayn's intervention of sorts. She didn't feel alright, she still felt a bit suicidal but she didn't feel alone anymore, and that made a world of diffrence. After a few minutes, the Abbis drifted off to sleep.

Later that night...

The man chocked and gasped for air, held nearly three feet of the ground. A partially gloved hand was wrapped around his throat, and ice blue eyes pierced into his own panicking brown eyes. His attacker spoke in a cool, controlled town. "Now, ready to cooperate?"

Despite his very life being threatened the man snarled. "Burn in hell, sorceror! We know who you are-gah!"

Gale casually examined his nails as he slowly crushed the man's throat. "And yet you give me this heroic bull****. Now, where are they?"

The man tried to sneer at the Abbis, but found himself battling to simply steal a breathe. "I...won't..betray in...noccents.." The man coughed and gasped, losing the battle to hang on to life.

Gale didn't seem particularly amused by the man's show of righteousness, but his face remained calm. "Than I suppose I'll have to give you a choice." Gale raised his hand toward a nearby house, in which a woman and two small children are peering out the doorway in terror. "Who means more to you?"

The man managed to convey a look of both horror and disgust. "Sick bastard.."

Gale's other hand became engulfed in flames, ready to be released on the family. "Well?"

The man was silent for a moment. It was against everything he had ever been taught to betray the lives off those he knew were good, especially to evil men like this one. However, his love for his family outweighed his moral sense of right and wrong and he bowed his head in shame. "The...Copper Stone Inn."

Gale closes his fist and drops the man. "Amazing how quickly the hero act fades if you press the right buttons. Now get inside and don't speak a word or I might change my mind." Gale turned around and navigated through Estecia. He knew the place well, and the place knew him. Their fears of him were well founded, and no one else attempted to stand in his way. Finally he stood before the inn, a smug look on his face. "The second half of the heaven key, the final key, and weeding out those insolent pest all in one swoop. What a foolish thing to do as to rest at my doorstep."

((No one wake up yet, just enjoy the show :P))

Re: Megiddo

One had been flying around for a few hours, looking for Gale. He landed in a small clearing, after hearing a lot of commotion on the ground. He looked around a tree to see what was going on.

On the farside there were two cop cars in front of a small home. A guy was explaining to the police what was going on.

"He came, flew down and grabbed me by my throat! He wanted some information about this other group, but I knew he was trouble so I didn't give it to him. Then the bastard did some type of magic and fire came out of his hand, he threatened to kill my family with it!"

The officers were almost having a laughing fit, the town they were in was a particularly quiet town and nothing out of the ordinary ever happened. They couldn't believe that a man came in flying and tried to kill a family by magic. They stepped back into their cars, with the man behind them screaming his lungs off.

"The Copper Stone Inn! HE'S GOING THERE! YOU NEED TO STOP HIM!"

One's heart jumped. He now knew where Gale was going. He jumps up and begins to fly at top speed towards the Inn. After a few minutes, he makes it to the Inn. He scans the ground, looking for Gale, and sees him walking towards the building. One hovers over him for a second before speaking.

"Hello, brother."

Gale 06-07-2004 01:26 PM

Re: Megiddo

Gale looks up and sneers at his older brother, his previous plans had just been dashed. Gale crosses his arms and speaks cooly. "Protecting those fools, brother? I thought you would of learned by now."

Re: Megiddo

"Learned? It's you that needs to learn." He descends to the ground. "Hmm, I don't think we ever got to that training session you promised me a few months ago."

Re: Megiddo

"Hah, you're the one that left. Was it out of fear?" Gale calmly draws Sin.

Rose walks through the forest she knows well. She listens to the wind that quietly whistles through the tree branches, trying to detect a voice among them. She sits on a large rock, somehow still warm despite the night's cool air. "What am I to do? I cannot trust anyone but Cloud. What if one of the others try to eliminate me?" She whispers to the wind, waiting for a reply.

Rikali mumbles and shifts quietly, drawing the stares of some of the patrons. There had been talk among the tables of destroying the beast before it wakes and destorys their home, but there was no act under the brave babble. Rikali sleeps on, in peaceful slumber.

Re: Megiddo

Instead of getting upset, he lets out a small laugh. He knew Gale was just testing him. "I didn't want to be around to see a 4000 year old man start whining." He takes off his cloak, and pulls out his staff. He gets in stance waiting for the first move.

Gale 06-07-2004 01:53 PM

Re: Megiddo

"I didn't expect you to understand, we always were diffrent." Gale closes his eyes for a moment. "Stand down now, and you don't have to die here."

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 01:58 PM

Re: Megiddo

"You're right, we are different. I don't plan on dying here either." He winks. Then in a sudden movement, he jumps backwards and then flies forward towards Gale, with his fist out.

Gale 06-07-2004 02:00 PM

Re: Megiddo

Gale stands his ground as Sin is bathed in Gale's dark aura. "Do you honestly believe you can defeat me, or are you trying to make up for Jekin's death by protecting the rest of your comrades?"

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 02:15 PM

Re: Megiddo

One stops abruptly in the air, he steps down and again, stands cooly in front of Gale. He knew that out of the people fighting againt Megiddo, that Gale was the other one besides Jekin himself that knew of One's fears while fighting him. "The only person I cared about were my fellow Abbissians. I could care less for the others. Besides, look at how much of an emotional wreck you are. You became depressed after the War, and you became mad after Laena died. Nobody did anything to you except try to help."

Gale 06-07-2004 02:23 PM

Re: Megiddo

"Hmph. Well a lot of good all that did, hm?" Gale slashes the groud and sends a wave of energy toward One.

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 02:30 PM

Re: Megiddo

In one swift movement, he jumps out of the way of the energy wave. "You'll see that I'm not the same person that I was a few months ago." He turns his staff upside down and positions it as if he's poking the air. Each place he puts his staff, a small ball appears. When he is done, he pushes hi staff forward, sending the energy balls at Gale.

Gale 06-07-2004 02:34 PM

Re: Megiddo

"And neither am I." Gale's hand glows as he begins to charge an orb of energy.

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 02:41 PM

Re: Megiddo

One's eyes follow the energy balls, as they zip through the air to Gale as he's charging his next attack. He decides now is a good time to attack again. "So, Gale, tell me. Does it keep you up at night, knowing that it was you that killed Laena? That in the process of your plan to destroy the world, she got destroyed too?" One knew he was asking for trouble, but he needed something to get Gale unfocused.

Gale 06-07-2004 02:44 PM

Re: Megiddo

Gale's face darkens and he snarls at One. "How dare you accuse me of being responsible for her death!!" Gale crushes the orb in his hand and extends it forward, firing an unfocused beam of energy toward One in his rage.

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 02:53 PM

Re: Megiddo

One smiles and deflects the bream of energy with his staff. "I hated to see her die as much as you did! But face the facts Gale. She's not dead just because of nature, but because she got involved with you, the murderous Gale."

Gale 06-07-2004 02:57 PM

Re: Megiddo

"I...I can't be held responsible for the choices she made, and don't you dare act as though you felt anything like I did!" In Gale's anger he had forgotten about One's energy orbs and recieved quite a surprise when they crashed into him and threw him backwards. Gale spun and midair and managed to land on his feet. He propells himself forward, Sin swung back.

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 03:09 PM

Re: Megiddo

"You knew what you were doing when you kissed her!" He sees Gale chargin at him, One tries to dive out of the way but is caught in the side. He falls to the ground, struggling to get up he crawls away to some clearance from Gale's sword.

Gale 06-07-2004 03:13 PM

Re: Megiddo

Gale is suprised by One's statement and his eyes narrow at his brother. The scowling Abbis fires another orb of energy at One.

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 03:21 PM

Re: Megiddo

This time, One is lucky, as he successfully rolls out of the way of the orb. He gets up and examines his side. The gash is small, he's able to go on. He noticed though that in the struggle, he dropped his staff. It was a bit off, and he knew he wouldn't be able to make it there without Gale attacking. So he decides a new approach. "Hmm, Gale, I do seem to remember beating you in a one on one hand to hand battle a long time ago. . let's see if you've gotten any better." He hopes Gale's pride will interfere with common sense and he'll accept the challenge.

Gale 06-07-2004 03:24 PM

Re: Megiddo

Gale snorts, seemingly amused by One's comment. "Hoping I'll feel the need to prove something to you to give yourself an advantage?"

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 03:33 PM

Re: Megiddo

He gives a weak smile. "Good, still sharp." One looks into Gale's eyes, trying to pierce through. "So are you still thinking about Laena? Tell me, what other excuses do you have for her death? Gale, you're not acting out of hatred for the world, but you're acting out of cowardice. You're fearful. And you know who it is I'm talking about when I say you're fearful. You're not going to win, Gale. It's not going to happen."

Gale 06-07-2004 03:37 PM

Re: Megiddo

Gale throws his head back and lets out a laugh. "Me afraid? I fear-" Unknowingly, Gale brought back further memories of Laena. However, he didn't allow it to show and quickly finished his sentence. "I have nothing to fear now. No one can take anything from me, and no one can match my power."

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 03:43 PM

Re: Megiddo

One saw a beautiful chance to strike now. He was only half listening to Gale. But as soon as he finished talking, One charged forward, and striked with his elbow forward to Gale's throat.

Gale 06-07-2004 03:45 PM

Re: Megiddo

Gale is tossed backwards and to the ground. He gasps for air as he clutches his throat, but soon rises. Gale snarls at One again and charges toward him before slashing again.

Da_#1_Link 06-07-2004 03:50 PM

Re: Megiddo

One dives out of the way, and luckily he's dived near his staff. He's now on his knees after diving, he grabs his staff and sees Gale change course and begin to charge at him again. Similar to Gale's first attack, One sticks his staff into the ground, sending an energy wave through the ground.

Re: Megiddo

((As I'm suffering from you lot not running on GMT, I'll just do a *cough*quick run over of what I was going to post))

Hearing a sound at his door, Hayate opened it to find Riki standing there

Ah, you did decide to come. Sit down a minuite, and I'll get us a drink or two

As Riki sits on the bed, Hayate grabs a glass of water for the both of them and leans up against a wall

So. You feel that you're an 'abomination'? Something that shouldn't be? See how you feel after this little tale. I haven't really told it to anyone, but I think you'd appreciate it more than most.

My name is Aesir Vanas. I was born... gods know how long ago, on the world with one continent. Life was calm, peaceful. I had a family, friends, even a girlfriend. Then one day, a month or so after my 20th birthday, invaders came. Our village was on very fertile land, you see, and they sought it and the surrounding villages for themselves. They put everyone to the sword, men, women, children, everyone.
I awoke in the middle of my burning home, a sword gash clean across my front. I felt it a miracle I survived. Somewhat ironic in hindsight.
I swore vengeance against those who dared to this to my family, and to the girl I loved.
My... best friend was out of the village at the time. He found me, tried to talk me out of my 'suicide mission' and... I cut him down where he stood. I sometimes still see his face when I close my eyes.

He sighs and takes a swig from his drink before looking slightly happier
But that isn't important, is it? Back to the story.

After a few months, I finally reached my goal, but I had gravely under-estimated my foes. I managed to get one of them before I was cut down. A small achievment, but I went to my rest with regret.
Somewhere, I found an aid to my revenge. The God of Chaos found this angry soul a useful tool. He returned me to existence, salvaged my body and gave me a mark of servitude. I became his messenger, neither angel nor demon, but something between them. The wings I was granted reflected this strange arrangement. One of the light, one of dark. 'Chaos affects all' was the reasoning there.
Heh... It sounds funny now I tell you it.

I was a slave to him, with no true free will. I did things that still chill me. I've killed many thousands... I don't even know the reasons for most of them. The people gave me a name that reflected my effect on towns and villages. They called me 'Hayate'-'Gale' for the devastation I caused, for I came with out warning, destroyed lives and buildings and left before anyone could react.

Noting Riki's mild surprise at his name, he shrugs and looks at the water in his glass

As time went on, I found my humanity returning, I became more like the person you see here. I found how to regain control to a large extent, although it cost me greatly. That's what those marks are on my coat and my back.

I have a new goal in my life now. I simply seek to end the existence of the being that turned Aesir into Hayate. That will naturally cause me to die, but I have no qualms there.

Funny, really. The one thing seperating me from the one who shares my name is that I have had enough of innocents dying for my own selfish gain. I've got too much on my conscience already.

Consider yourself lucky, miss Riki. Your heratige really means nothing. You may be a demon, yet you're innocent. From a certain view, I am an angel, yet I have commited the gravest of sins. I died three millenia ago, yet I still move. You're more human than I can dream of ever becoming.

Oh, and as for the question I'm sure you want answering...

He turns and lifts up the back of his shirt, revealing he has a tattoo on his back identical to the design on his coat

The script is very simple. It simply says
"I am Hermes.
I become tamed by devouring my own wings"

Gale 06-07-2004 05:11 PM

Re: Megiddo

((Sorry about that Janus ^^;; ))
Gale is tossed to the ground but quickly recovers. Gale knew his brother was know pushover, as he had sparred with him hundreds of times before. The question was, if give the oppertunity, would One strike him down? Gale certainly would kill his brother if he got in the way, not that he had some grudge against him. The warlock had to wonder if his brother thought the same, as irrelivent as it may seem. "What do you hope to accomplish, One?"
